Who it suits

The Current, built by Crest Current, is a purpose-built electric pontoon, rather than a petrol boat with the engine swapped out — a sensible thing to be: deck layout, weight distribution and wiring are designed around the drivetrain from the start. At roughly 20 ft, with forward couches and an L-shaped aft lounge, this is a sociable, flat-decked platform for lakes with horsepower or wake restrictions, and for owners whose boating is measured in hours of drifting rather than miles covered.

Almost everything a buyer would need in order to compare it. Our records show no confirmed battery capacity, motor output, range or price, and the outboard attribution — an ePropulsion Navy Evo in the 6-9.9 hp equivalent class, with double-digit runtime hours at cruise and an overnight charge from a domestic supply — is indicative rather than verified for this exact boat. Treat those figures as a shape, not a specification, and get the real ones from the dealer.

What can safely be assumed is that an outboard of that class on a 20 ft pontoon means displacement speed only: no watersports, and no crossing open water against a chop. European buyers face a further difficulty, in that pontoons remain a marginal format here with thin dealer and service coverage; import, transport and support costs all need setting against the boat before it makes sense.
