A social day boat with a missing chapter

The concept is easy to like. Rand has taken the 30 ft open-powerboat template and organised it into five distinct zones — bow seating, an aft triple sun lounge, a dining and helm area with a heads, and a small cabin with two berths — for up to twelve people, on a hull that remains trailerable. As a design-led Danish answer to the day-charter and large-family brief in sheltered water, it is well conceived.

What you cannot assess

No motor output, battery capacity, range, top speed or price is published in our record for the electric configuration, and on this boat those are not details — they are the decision. Twelve people at social speeds on a 30 ft open hull is a demanding duty cycle, and endurance is precisely what determines whether the boat works for a day's cruising or strands you planning around a charger.

Rand is also a combustion-first builder whose range is predominantly outboard-powered, and it offers a choice of drivetrain on some hulls, so a general "Escape 30" specification will not tell you what the electric version does. Ask for the configuration-specific sheet: usable kWh, continuous kW, and range quoted at a stated speed with a stated load.

Until then, treat it as an appealing platform with an unpriced, unquantified powertrain.
